Minutes from 4/12/07
Attendees: Kathleen Dobie, Bethany Hayes, Maureen Barlock, Marvin Schroeder, Greg Buck, Josh Rotella
Minutes were approved and treasurer’s report made.
Beth reported that the Indiana Green Party is discussing how to proceed in the face of misreporting of votes for Bill. She also relayed that Elaine Brown, who we thought would be here for Black Expo, is not in fact scheduled to attend that event, so we decided not to pursue building a fundraiser around her.
Maureen asked those interested in participating in a speakers’ bureau to forward short biographies and topics to her.
Kathleen brought up her recent discover that compact fluorescent light bulbs contain mercury and must be disposed of according to toxic waste procedures. There was some discussion of the Greens taking a leadership role on publicizing this issue. Kathleen will investigate and report at the June meeting.
Josh rosported that efforts to design hydrogen fuel cells are being hampers by federal regulations that favor nuclear power with its radioactive waste. He will investigate and report on this issue at the May meeting.
J.M. Evans spoke about his candidacy for the Democratic Party nomination for city-county council for Pike township’s District 1. He pledged support for Green issues and an open ear once he is elected. He asked for phonebank help on Saturdays through the May 8 primary.
Kathleen and Beth offered to help Pam with the IGP table at the Midwest Peace & Justice Summit, and Marvin, Beth, and Kathleen offered to person the Indiana Alliance for Democracy table at Earth Day in return for table space for the Green Party.
The meeting adjourned at 8:10.

Treasurer’s Report
Report on last month’s activities:
• Midwest Peace & Justice Summit – Beth
• Earth Day – Marvin
• Global Marijuana March – Skywolf asked Kathleen to speak about the Green Party and its support for the reform of marijuana laws, which she did on May 5. She promised to link to the Purdue chapter of the National Organization for Reform of Marijuana Laws (now she just has to figure out how to do that!).
Old business:
• Kathleen did not get the notice for May’s meeting into NUVO, but has marked her calendar so that it will be listed in the future.
• Josh’s report on hydrogen fuel cells
• Report on J.M. Evans’ campaign
New business:
• Any follow-up from Josh’s report on hydrogen cells
• Schedule event to engage the people who signed onto the MCGP mailing list at Earth Day.
• As A Shade of Grey now is closing at 7 PM and as the space is fairly small, perhaps we should talk about a different meeting place.
Next meeting: June 14
